Happy Canada Day! July 1st is the day all Canadians gather together in backyards to barbecue red meat, drink cold beer and make small children grab another one from the cooler. Here are our friends kid’s Cohen and Leighton taking a break from serving the adults and soaking up some sun.

We’re over a week into our Canadian visit and I think we’ve managed to shake all the hands and kiss all the babies in Regina. For the few people we’ve missed, we will see you soon. Our lips are puckered, so get ready.

Things are going great so far – I’ve managed to get in a couple rounds of golf with my buds, I’ve eaten copious amounts of cheese and baking and we’ve ran through all our favourite parks in the city. And the weather has been fantastic – close to 30 above everyday mixed in with some great Prairie thunderstorms at night.

We’ve got a lot more to do in the next two weeks including a steak night fundraiser that our friends Scott and Shay have arranged for us on Saturday, July 7 at The Hub in east Regina. You can stop by anytime from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and enjoy a steak dinner (vegetarian option is also available), a drink and some good company for only $20. If you’d like to come, just let me or Trina know and we will reserve you a ticket at the door – or you can reply on the Facebook event page – http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/370760119658103/ . We need to have an approximate idea of numbers by Thursday or so.

All proceeds will go to my beer fund…just kidding. Actually, it will go towards mine and Trina’s $2,000 fundraising commitment to CUSO International to help them send more Canadian volunteers like us overseas. You can read more about our fundraising efforts on our CUSO fundraising page.

Even if you don’t want to eat anything, just stop by The Hub and say hi. We’ll likely get there around 6 and be floating around all night.

Enjoy your day.
