It has been more than a week since our computer has been in the shop. Essentially we paid 1500 rupees to have a diagnostic run to tell us there is nothing wrong with the computer. That would be fine except that when it was returned to us, we still could not turn it on. We were beginning to thing that we have one very expensive paper weight, but by some miracle (maybe it is the auspicious time) it powered up tonight. Thus, we are spending a marathon session on the computer as we never know when it will work again.
This past week, Shaun’s parents have joined us for a whirlwind of fun-filled activities. We have had the chance to be regular tourists as we went on an excursion through what is dubbed “the cultural triangle”. With the guidance of our driver, Moto (that’s right his name is moto and he’s a driver – Randall couldn’t even come up with a better pun), we saw it all. Elephants, ruins, paintings, ancient Sinhalese kingdoms and really bad museum maps- you name it, we saw it and in stereotypical asian style had our picture taken in front of it.
I could go on and on boring you with the details, but instead I’ll let you see for yourselves.
